ART GALLERY INTERN:

Micaëla Gallery in Hayes Valley seeks an intern to work a few hours 1-2 days a week.  The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday from 11-7 and Sunday from noon to 5.

About us

Micaëla Gallery is a young gallery in the heart of San Francisco's Hayes Valley.  We exhibit emerging and mid-career artists.  We are still expanding as a gallery!

What we are looking for

Micaëla Gallery's internship program is structured to coordinate applicants' interest, backgrounds, and schedules with the needs of our gallery.  While we cannot offer paid internships, we offer a behind the scenes experience in a culturally enriched neighborhood, at a dynamic young gallery and a chance to work with artists and arts professionals in exchange for your valuable time and talent.

Interns should be interested in working in a growing gallery environment, possess strong communications skills (both in person and on the phone), and have computer skills in word processing and email.  Basic Photoshop experience is highly desirable, but training will be provided.  Candidates must be able to commit 8 hours a week for 3 months minimum.  To apply, email your cover letter and resume to info@micaela.com, and note the position you are applying for on the subject line.

Micaëla Gallery in Hayes Valley seeks an enthusiastic candidate for the position of Gallery Associate to assist with the management of Micaëla Gallery's exhibitions, finances, and facility.  This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic arts environment.

What we are looking for

The Gallery Associate works with a highly qualified team of staff and interns.  Responsibilities include managing exhibitions, daily financial operations of the gallery, overseeing the gallery calendar, and performing general equipment and building maintenance duties.

  • Manage exhibitions.  Field inquiries for exhibition applications, submissions and implement gallery rentals.  Oversee exhibition installations and storage.  Assign volunteers for exhibition receptions and internship programs.
  • Maintain ongoing financial operations, performing all aspects of financial record keeping including preparation of monthly reports and employee time-keeping.
  • Oversee acquisition, installation, maintenance and upkeep of all computer hardware and software.
  • Supervise volunteers and paid support to ensure cleanliness and usefulness of gallery.

Qualifications

The Gallery Associate is a personable, well-organized individual with proven communication skills.  A strong working knowledge of computers and networks is necessary.  Basic financial record keeping and experience with office procedures is essential.  Experience with QuickBooks, Excel, Work and Outlook is important.  This person must be informed and conversant with Micaëla Gallery's calendar and exhibitions.  The candidate must be available to work some Saturdays and Sundays and attend evening receptions and events.  Knowledge of contemporary art, music, video and literature is a huge plus!

This is an hourly part-time paid position.  $10-$14/hour DOE ++.  Please contact via email only.
