MARTIN JANECKY

Born:  Czech Republic

Resides:  California

At the age of thirteen, Martin Janecky began blowing glass in the Czech Republic. During his four years of study at the glass school in the town of Novy Bor, he demonstrated his technique in several different countries across Europe, including Holland, Sweden and France. Upon graduation, Martin began working in South Africa, Sweden and India.  In 2003, he decided to come to the US, where he taught and demonstrated across the country at Pilchuck, Corning Museum of Glass, Penland School of Crafts and Pratt Fine Arts Center.

Martin joined William Morris' glass team in Seattle, WA, and worked with artists Karen Willenbrink, Tony Craig and Preston Singletary.  He received the Pilchuck Kaiser Foundation Award and the Salvador Dali Award from the President of European Union of Art in Brussels.

Martin is currently traveling the US, teaching the unique glassblower skill of inside sculpting.
