RON STARR Statement + CV
ARTIST STATEMENT:
I take a freestyle approach, enjoying the wonderful characteristics of sand and its impression in glass. What I achieve is a natural presence that can create the perfect surface to work from and lead me to the often glowing color tones. It is through these cast surfaces and sculpted glass, that I’m able to illustrate the abstract imagery that’s important to me.
At first my movements seem inattentive, careless and rhythmic. However, characterized by a deep understanding of the material and the natural presence, my thought process is delicate, but my action is deliberate, firm and strong.
I’m a very high-energy person, who tries to convey a love for an active life in every sculptural piece. I look for each piece to convey deep glowing forces in the environment in which it’s displayed. My objective is for people to feel the same glowing force I experience when they view my work.
